Sourcing Associate
Data Analyst - Europe
Primary Job Function: The DMA primary role is to analytical support
to the sourcing teams they are attached to. They are primarily responsible
for receiving, cleaning and classifying client data to enable sourcing
teams to understand the client spend. Additionally they will support
teams with analysis of supplier responses creating reports to enable
teams to understand the opportunities offered by suppliers. This
work will be delivered through excel, access or other tools such
as linear optimization tools on a case by case basis.
Location: Europe (DMA's work at the customer site and/or
out of their home office, so locations are somewhat flexible)
Duties/Responsibilities:
General: The Data Management Analyst will provide data management
know-how and technical expertise on consulting engagements and A.T.
Kearney internal technical oriented projects. They will build custom
database solutions when appropriate including the support of full
life cycle small-scale application development: design, development,
testing, implementation, and training. They must have a solid grasp
of supply chain management and sourcing techniques; assist in deploying
eTools as well as custom request for information applications. They
will identify potential sources of data in conjunction with the
project team; develop flow diagrams to display data file relationships,
working with various members of the client team to extract, migrate,
cleanse and validate data from varying platforms. They will also
document business and technical requirements, user manuals, data
dictionaries, and presentations to clients and internal team members.
The DMA will be required to continually create and update such IC
when creating templates within sourcing projects to ensure that
the latest knowledge is available and so the breadth of commoditized
categories is extended.
Qualifications / Experience:
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in a quantitative discipline
- Experience in quantitative applications, such as Microsoft Excel,
Microsoft Access or SQL Server
- Experience in the use of Linear Optimization software is an
advantage
- Strong problem solving skills demonstrated through previous
work experience
- Full understanding of Strategic Sourcing methodology and the
use of data collection within it
- Ability to understand impact of accurate data on client projects
and management consulting business
- Strong organizational, verbal communication and writing skills
- Experience or ability to progress to developing and delivering
presentations to senior executives
- Ability to travel 4-5 days a week
- Fluent in local language plus English plus one other European language

Sourcing Manager - Europe
Primary Job Function: The Sourcing Manager's (SM) role is to coach
a client category team through the e-enabled strategic sourcing
process, from development of the strategy and approach through execution
of an eRFI/P distribution, an auction event and post-auction follow
up. The SM is also responsible for pre-event marketing and training
communications with client stakeholders and suppliers.
The SM may also be deployed in the traditional role of a strategic
sourcing consultant. In this role, the SM will gather and analyze
data to identify sourcing practice improvements, cost savings opportunities,
operations, and technology improvements as well as conducting benchmarking
and best-practices studies. The SM will work with the client team
to develop and recommend sourcing strategies and execute the agreed
upon strategies. After successfully delivering agreed strategies,
the SM will train the client for on-going management of the sourcing
practice.
The Sourcing manager is responsible for the collection and documentation
of all category related Intellectual Capital (IC) before the end
of the sourcing program and the creation/updating of category specific
IC.

Duties/Responsibilities in the SM role:
- Provide strategic sourcing consulting to clients including development
of the spend cube, creation of the RFI/P and guidance in the negotiation
process
- Lead the client through the strategic sourcing process for one
or more categories, including development of the category profile
through Internet Negotiations
- Be able to execute against specified delivery models for both
e-enabled sourcing and traditional strategic sourcing methods
- Support the development of the overall strategy for leveraging
eSourcing products including eRFI/P and Internet Negotiations
- Work with teams to strategize how best to use eSourcing tools
within the context of their ongoing commodity strategies
- Manage on-site eSourcing initiatives
- Gather and analyze data to identify strategy, operations and
technology process improvements
- Help refine the negotiation and category strategy
- Drive the category team to provide timely, high-quality data
deliverables
- Identify and qualify alternate suppliers
- Design the bid structure and RFP process, review supplier criteria
for eRFP and/or Internet Negotiation participation to ensure consistency
with key success requirements
- Lead the client category team in developing a supplier communications
plan in support of Sourcing strategy
- Conduct supplier orientation and training on the eSourcing process
- Create and manage eRFI/Ps and Internet Negotiations
- Validate final bids
- Assist in developing follow-up with suppliers and sourcing teams
- Participate in the clients supplier negotiations as required
- Conduct analysis to support benefits estimation and documentation
- Document category experience by developing formalized Intellectual
Capital documents in order to continuously increase the breadth
of knowledge available within the firm
Qualifications / Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred
- 5-7 years experience as a strategic sourcing consultant or as
a buyer or manager in procurement, with a client-oriented style
- Deep category knowledge in at least 1 commodity
- Willingness to travel 4-5 days a week
- Experience in developing pricing models/ market baskets
- Demonstrated project management skills (specifically in managing
multiple projects)
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience in developing and delivering presentations to senior
executives
- Proficient understanding of Internet technology
- Strong group facilitation skills
- Strong interpersonal and consultant-type skills in managing
various client culture dynamics and effectively interfacing with
multiple levels of client organizations (i.e. executive officers,
buyers, directors)
- Ability to function as both a team leader and team member as
appropriate
- Fluent in local language plus English plus one other European
language preferred
Sourcing Associate - Europe
Primary Job Function: Working as part of a Sourcing Engagement
Team, the Sourcing Associate's (SA) primary role is to support the
collection and analysis of data for the sourcing category teams
and/or to coach a customer category team through the strategic sourcing
process, from development of the strategy and approach through execution
of an RFI/P campaign, negotiation (traditional or Internet event)
and post negotiation follow up. The SA will be expected to master
the processes, tools and intellectual content to progress to the
next grade as either a Sourcing Manager or Data Manager.

out of their home office, so locations are somewhat flexible)
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Support the development of the overall strategy for leveraging
Sourcing including RFP/I and negotiation, on- line bidding and
face to face.
- Review supplier criteria for negotiation participation, to ensure
consistency with key requirements for success
- Activities include design of the bid structure and RFP process,
review of supplier criteria for RFP and/or negotiation participation,
to ensure consistency with key success requirements
- Lead the customer category team in developing a supplier communications
plan in support of Sourcing strategy
- Drive the category team to provide timely, high-quality data
deliverables
- Conduct supplier orientation and training on the Sourcing process
and tools
- Create RFPs and internet negotiations for client orientation
and training
- Work with teams to strategise how to best use Sourcing tools
